LCBO Garage Sale 2017

Laphroaig-Cairdeas-Madeira-Cask-2016

It’s that time of year again, where dust is blown off “missing” inventory and black swans appear on the shelves of the most unlikely stores. Yes, it’s LCBO’s financial year end. After a week of frenzied physical inventory, a number of unique, precious bottles emerge from the undergrowth like morels, waiting for the sharp-eyed forager to spot and take home to enjoy.

So what’s on the menu this year?

Glenfiddich 1963 Original Single Malt  for $59!

Auchentoshan 18 Years Old Lowland Single Malt  for $94!

Caol Ila Distillers Edition

Laphroaig Cairdeas 2016 Madeira release, $100!

Hart 11-year-old Craigellachie Speyside Cask Strength 2005

That’s as of Friday, March 31. I expect more to trickle out of the warehouses over the next couple of days.

But Forager, you might say, when I check inventory there are zero bottles showing anywhere. True, but here’s another secret: the inventory level on the website do not always agree with the inventory levels on the iOS app. Why? No clue, but I can attest to the truth of it with a bottle of Amrut Single Cask I found for $42.

As a last note, if you don’t manage to find a trophy bottle, the consolation prize is a bottle of Benromach 10. Numerous times I have praised it’s unbeatable quality/price ratio and now LCBO has released a huge amount across the province making it readily available nearly everywhere. Enjoy.

Happy foraging
